my #1 question along this journey has been — what is hand stamping?

i’ve been waiting for a perfect time to make the post containing this information for you all!

that question is usually followed by something to do with “your machine…” the catch- there’s NO machine involved! take a read to learn more about hand stamping!

hand stamping is done strictly with a source of metal, metal stamps, and striking those stamps with a hammer to leave an impression. the metal stamps are brought in individually and come in specific sizes, fonts, and designs. due to there being NO machine used in the process, each piece will come out differently and unique! the best part of hand-stamping is the imperfect, perfectness. nothing is ever perfect in this world of stamping. there become different depths, spacing, and alignments in each piece

i often get in my head about that part, that not every one is going to be in the perfect line, or not completely straight- but it is OKAY. it makes it that more special! this slow, old fashioned process relies simply and solely on hand and eye coordination, which is why it sets it apart so much!! i source different types of metal from Canadian makers, and learn more and more everyday about this little world of stamping.
